My coastal farmhouse...in the city

Coastal Farmhouse.  I think I have finally found a fitting description for my style.  And if all my wildest dreams were to come true I would find myself living in a crusy old farmhouse by the sea~so I guess it makes sense!  The truth is, my home looks summery most of the year, but since it actually IS summer I thought this would be a perfect time to show you some pictures. I heart summer btw...{Click on pics twice to enlarge}

 This is our favorite room in the house~always light and bright and airy. When I took these pictures it was overcast and drizzly outside.
 Our living room also functions as our dining room.  This old, beat up, weathered farm table is one of my prized posessions found at The Treasure House. I hang my linens and tablecloths on this old ladder.

Olivia's corner of the world where she spends most of her days. When Olivia was born she spent 6 excruciating weeks in the hospital.  I promised her that when I got her home I would make it as comfortable and as 'un-hospital-like' as possible.  It makes me happy that she spends her days in this light- filled happy room watching soaps cartoons and when mommy gets home, listening to our favorite jazz cds :)

I got this sweet little table from Jeannie, the lamp, chair, bench and other items are all flea market finds.
Well, ya'll know I like my ladders and chippy shutters!
This pair of shutters also came from Jeannie. LOVE.  And as far as my slipcovered sofas go, I just don't know how I would live without them.  Dog hair, stains, no problem- just throw in the wash and they are as good as new. When we bought the house the floor was covered in shag carpet. We ripped it up and put down pine boards then used latex paint and poly.  Pine is very soft wood so if you don't want little dings and dents in your floor I wouldn't recommend using it.  We however, absolutely LOVE the way our floor has weathered and scarred and looks like it's been there 100 years.

I love using mismatched chairs for a casual informal feel.  {The aqua mirror is from Hobby Lobby and the candleabra from Kmart.}
I heart my chicken feeder. At Christmastime this holds vintage silver balls and white prayer candles and the rest of the year shells. If you find one just give it a good scrub with bleach before using it :)
This blue dresser is one of my favorite pieces. A thrift store find for $50 and already painted the perfect shade of blue~gotta love that.
Hope you've enjoyed the little tour of my living room! Next up-the kitchen! Happy summer decorating!
